Watched Footie at Liverpool’s Home Ground in Singapore with some of the HoGC Men! Ha ha. I love the passion of the LFC’s supporters. I’m a Man U fan for life, but I salute Liverpool fans….. They have been an underachieving bunch but yet their fans are still so loyal…. Take my hats off to those loyal supporters.
Liverpool won 1-0, of course!
For a sports fanatic, we can use characters in the sports’ world in our sermons all the time.. Talking about great players with grit, determination and drive awaken my senses!
However, another great quality - Loyalty, is rarely displayed today! It was United’s chairman’s loyalty to Alex Ferguson in the 80s that made United successful. He was almost sacked but the Chairman kept faith in him. Loyalty is a rarely spoken quality in today’s term. These players in the 80s, 90s, 00s have shown that it’s possible to have loyalty!
1) NBA - Kevin Durant (This guy is only my age, but he certainly is beyond his age for his maturity), Hakeem the Dream, Kobe the Black Mamba, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Michael Jordan. No LeBrons here….. ha ha. No offense, I love Lebron’s style, but the manner in which he left Cleveland was quite a shame.
2) Soccer - Paolo Maldini. He is a one club man, played for AC Milan all his life! Gary Neville. A player with average abilities but wicked sick work rate and passion and that’s why he was Man Utd captain (He retired a few days ago). Steven Gerrard. Man, this is a man of loyalty. I’m not a Liverpool supporter, but he certainly has gained the respect of many opponents and fans of football in general. Ryan Giggs. Do you have anything to say about the Welsh Wizard?? Simply a legend. Most decorated European Footballer that has ever graced football. It’s no surprised he played for Man U. Paul Scholes. The ginger prince. Undersized, yet the heart of a lion. Another Man U legend, class of the 92. I guess one of the reasons why these great footballers never leave their club is because of their love for them. Wayne Rooney is certainly one loyal player. Many might not know that he still gives money to his beloved Boyhood club, Everton. There’s one thing for sure about Rooney, that he’ll never don a Liverpool Jersey.
